Katrin has fled her old life to move into a dilapidated apartment in Brooklyn. She lies awake at night, listening to the sounds of the building. The floorboards creak, the radiator groans, and behind that is another, far stranger sound.

PRESS

“When I look at Guez’s work, I’m impressed by its breadth, depth, and quality. Guez has rapidly been able to craft stories that seem to bring out a sense of wonder in their characters and in the relationships between them.”
– Lisa Reznik, Agnes Films

"An up and coming visionary with style, Bat-Sheva's work incorporates a blend of characters from different worlds with small hints of magic brought into her storytelling... Behind the Wall is sure to surprise audiences and make them think"

-Patrick King, Reel Brief

"The 17-minute short– for which Guez won the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival’s award for Best Director on Monday– is a magical-realist mystery tale of sorts, one that mourns a changing neighborhood in unexpected and incredibly imaginative ways."

-Nicole Disser, Bedford & Bowery

Behind the Wall "examines the healing power of music and dance while mourning a changing neighborhood and the generation that is part of this change. I would definitely recommend going to the HollyShorts film festival to watch this. It is a great combination of vision, story, and cinematography that shouldn’t be missed."
-Scott Green, IPS News

The Genre-Defying Short Dance Film You Didn't Know You Needed In Your Life." - Dance Magazine

Behind the Wall is a delightful short film that gently alters ones perception of reality."

” I care deeply about liberating dance from the confines of a theater and re-imagining it in the world, setting it in a location that adds depth and subtext to the story…. I actually have quite loud radiators in my apartment. I used to wake up at 3 in the morning and cry sometimes. I started to imagine a world where people wake up at 3 in the morning and dance.”

“Guez is currently seeking funding for her film And How She Tried which also explores the world of magical realism.”
